International Menstrual Hygiene Day – June 3rd 2017

Knowledge and understanding about menstruation and menstrual hygiene management has important impacts on the health, education, employment and pshosocial outcomes for women and girls.

Women and girls around the world need to manage their menstruation during reproductive age.  However, managing menstruation with normalcy and dignity remains a challenge and women and girls currently miss-out on education, work and other opportunities in life.

In recognition of International Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28th 2017, Health Partners in Timor-Leste are working together to raise awareness and recognition of this important health topic.

With leadership from the Ministry of Health and support from the Australian Embassy in Timor-Leste, an exhibition will be held at Timor Plaza on Saturday 3rd June from 10am – 2pm. Menstrual health information and hygiene products will be showcased at this event, and health professionals and educators will be present to answer questions and provide free anemia testing.
